Abstract

Sodium carboxymethyl xanthan (SCMX) and sodium alginate (SAL) based microbeads loaded with Trimetazidine dihydrochloride were prepared by ionotropic gelation method using CaCl2 as a cross-linking agent. The prepared microbeads were evaluated for % yield, size analysis, surface morphology, swelling behavior, drug release studies, in vivo antidepressant activity and stability studies of optimized formulation. The effect of different formulation variables like total polymer concentration, gelation time, concentration of cross-linking agent, and drug load on the extent of release was also examined.
