Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most preventable risk factors for heart disease and a major problem around the world. It has a significant negative effect on public health and may cause unnecessary morbidities and premature mortalities. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of cerebrovascular accidents and acts as a reversible functional precursor of target organ damage. Hypertension is best treated with a combination of lifestyle modifications and medication to prevent strokes and other complications. Knowledge of prevention of its complications has been shown to have a favorable impact on health habits. Patients' lack of knowledge and medication adherence is one cause of ineffective secondary prevention
